Blood work came back

When I last posted I was getting little purple dots and purplish brown streak in nail. Well blood work came back fine, but I'm flaring bad. My mouth was so dry, sores all over mouth and tongue. Having severe muscle cramps and spasms. My hair is coming out in handfuls. Doc put me on prednisone and cevimeline for the dry mouth. I lost my job friday, due to excessive absence. Really upset, they didn't even switch me to part time or offer to move me to a different department like we had discussed. The added stress of this is not helping my situation. Husband suggested applying for veterinary receptionist, still get to work with animals without killing myself with harsh physical labor. That was one of those " its real, and you can't ignore it" moments, I guess I have been denying how ill I get.

Hi Stacy,

Glad to hear that your blood work came back ok. When you posted originally I shared that I too have similar spots and also lines on my nails. Did the doctor say what it was, or just another lovely part of lupus?

I am so sorry to hear about your job loss. I used to work as a receptionist at a Vet clinic and absolutely loved it. I had to quit when I found out I was allergic to cats and that was the cause of my chronic sinus infections. It is hard to loss a job you love. I think your husband is right about applying for a less stressful position. In the midst of all this I will pray that though one door has been closed, that God will open another door or a least a window to give you some hope and direction.

I am so sorry that you are in such a flare. I hope the prednisone works quickly to give you some relief.

Hugs and blessings,

Stacey

Thank you Holding. Yes, spots are just another strange symptom. But Dr said to come in immediately if I get more than just a few. The prednisone has worked for the mouth sores but not the muscle pain yet. I feel like I had a work out session with out the body slimming results LOL. Adjusting to the reality of this disease(s) has been hard for me. Much like my raccoons, if told no, I'll simply find another way! It has been very therapeutic to come here and read every ones posts, I am not alone. We all share the same joys and frustrations of our complicated lives. Thank you Everyone.

Stacey,

I am glad your bloodwork came back okay. I am wondering if they checked you for Vasculitis. Some types of Vasculitis do not have a blood test. I was diagnosed with it. I too had some purple spots, bleeding in my nails and bad muscle spasms. It is common in Lupus apparently. They treat it first with steroids and if that doesn’t work they give you Cytoxan chemotherapy. That definitely works. I lost a little bit of hair but not all if it. Most Rheumatologists can check you for it.

I also was a vet tech in college. I loved it! But having a less stressful job will really help your flares. Take care!

Sorry Stacey, it's hard to have so many changes and upsets in your life when you feel bad. It's almost like you go through the stages of grief for the person you used to be. I know how hard it is, I feel like I am finally coming out of it.

I still need to work on myself and my attitude, but it takes time.

Glad you have a good husband, I do too! Good luck, I feel for you!
