As you can see I hadn’t lost all my hair by August, only 3 weeks after leaving the hospital and my fathers passing. I had to wear hats. While at a surf luah I looked at my friend hoping he’d win the board, never expecting it would be me standing in front of the newscameras. I thought “what am I going to do with this now that I have lupus” as the photos were taken and then I thought “wow, what a blessing, now I have a second board to take a buddy and watch me and make sure I’m safe”. Two days before I had miraculously been offered a position as an inventory clerk that would help to get me out of the heat and off the road. Not out of the snowplow truck for the winter tho and the chemo treatments I’d undergo (not known to me at the time).
