Hi, friends. It’s almost 2:00 a.m. here in N. Texas. I would be surprised if there is anyone online. However, I’ve popped a bit of temperature and am having a little panic attack because I just can’t seem to get as much air into my lungs as I need. My husband turned up the volume on the oxygen, plus I’ve checked my pulse-ox, so I know logically that I’m getting enough air. However, that knowledge is not doing me much good emotionally. I’ve done all the exercises I can think of to gain control of my breathing. I guess this, too, shall pass. Thanks for listening. Martha
Try to relax! That feeling really stinks. So sorry.
hopefully, you’re able to go back to sleep. Good Luck!
Hi there, sorry you're feeling like that. I'm having a hard night too, very anxious and can't get to sleep. I'm worried that if I don't get to sleep soon I'm going to be in so much pain tomorrow. Ugh! When I have trouble with my breathing it helps me to feel my pulse, feeling it beat comforts/distracts me.
I can’t sleep in California. I hope your breathing feels better. My sleep patterns are so messed up. I started 2 meds for gout last week, and it’s making me so sleepy during the day. Also tonight it gave me acid reflux. I have to do stuff tomorrow, so now I’m in the thing for you worry about not going to sleep which makes it impossible to go to sleep. I’m glad there was somebody to confess to. I get a very fast pulse, which feels like I can’t breathe. It is an awful feeling
Hi there, I just woke up. Hope u are doing better. I'm in houston. south of u. want to talk? Sunshine
Good morning, I hope. I’m still having a hard time getting a deep breath. I know what is happening, but I’m still unable to control it. When I try to get a breath, my muscles grab, preventing me from breathing deeply. I was finally able to slip off to sleep for a few hours. I’m so sorry for those of you who are worrying about being too tired to function today. That’s SUCH a miserable feeling! Thank you all for listening. Martha
I HATE that feeling of not getting a deep breath, sometimes I get really sharp pains if I breathe too deep, like a stab in the chest with a knife.
Hi martha, hopefully you're already asleep now, means...that you're OK ;)
Hi Martha, I’m Trish, I get that feeling with pleurisy or if I have been in bed for a long time sick. Does your heart beat very fast after you eat ? It’s like a weird weakness. I’ve had everything with lupus. Kidney disease, CNS 3 heart attacks, both my hips replaced , also my knees, back surgery. Ugh… I try to be as positive as possible and sometimes that’s really hard. I’m sending you a Blessing of healing. Always here if you need a friend. Feel better
Hi MizOh! I hope you were able to finally get to sleep. I’m Here in south Texas and we are having asthma issues and respiratory infections going around.
I was on 3 liters of oxygen a few months ago and hated that feeling of no air! It’s such a strange sensation. I still get it now and wonder if it’s late effects from pleurisy or if it’s a sign my lungs are getting inflamed again. Hopefully you are not getting a respiratory infection with your fever. Be sure to call your doctor and let him/her know you have a fever and that breathing sensation.
I’m having issues getting to sleep and staying asleep but I try not to get on my phone or computer because I read somewhere it makes it hard for you to fall asleep because the light waves from them keep your brain busy for an hour or so after you turn them off. I might be sensitive to that. I know it doesn’t bother my hubby one bit. He can fall asleep any time, anywhere! Lol
I’m looking at getting some melatonin. Hopefully it will help. I’ve heard it works great and its natural. My doctor said I could take it.
Anyhoo… I hope you get some much needed rest! Prayers to you feeling better soon! Hugs-Tina
Yes, dear friends, I was finally able to sleep for a few hours this morning. You guys make such good suggestions. I hadn’t even thought of pleurisy. Mostly it feels like my muscles seize up when I try to take a deep breath. I’ve had lots and lots of lung issues, but never pleurisy. Is this how pleurisy feels? I don’t think I’m getting an infection in my lungs. I frequently run a low grade temp, so that’s nothing new. Thank you to everyone who read my post and answered. You all were a big help. It’s comforting to know that there are people out there who understand. Martha
Must have been something in the water last night I too was up at 2:00am I just couldn't shut my mind off. Unfortunately I don't have any words of wisdom or a magical cure. I can only say to you what my mama use to say to me. Cross your left arm over your right and your right over your left and give yourself a great big hug from me. I hope you are doing better today I will say a little prayer for guidance and strength. God Bless Julie
Well, the next time I am up all night I'm going to come online and see who I can see. Thought I was the only one. The slightest noise wakes me up and that's it for the night. I'll walk until the sun comes up.
Thank you, Julie. I like those instructions on giving a hug. They’re ones I need to remember.

I’m almost always up late. I prefer to sleep late in the mornings because my husband leaves every day at 7:15. He usually gets home around 6:30 p.m. If I get up with him, the day seems to last forever until he gets home. Since I’m stuck at home without help to load up my wheelchair, I’m simply too lonesome and bored to be awake all day. Give me a shout the next time you’re awake. We may be able to solve all the world’s problems.
