A Stomach Disease or Lupus is the Question!

I am so looking forward to a great 2014! With all my stomach issues for years! I was told many things it could be. Going gluten free, allergy testing and avoiding dairy ect… It didn’t help! When I would have an attack I was housebound and in bed for several days at a time! After my last hospital stay I knew Something needed to be done. I could not live with the pain and confinement anymore! My rheumy told me if I had surgery to removed the effected area of my colon it might just put my lupus in remission! I said sign me up!

Scared to death to have the surgery and not sure if I would make it out alive, on December 3 I had to have eight inches of my colon removed. Path came back chronic inflammation and diverticulitis. So what came first the chicken or the egg? No one could tell me! But they both are a inflammatory process! LOL! So I could not find an answer from the doctors, but it’s been six weeks since my surgery and I’m feeling better then I have in ten years! I have not had any antibiotics or steroids in six weeks!

Yahoo! I have a life again!!!

The moral of my story is this: no matter how scared you are in life, don’t suffer, turn the fear over to God and let him help you through. It might just make a huge difference in your life!

Hi dewing3569

I'm so glad you are feeling better. I had 6" removed from my colon in 2001 . I had a blood clot. I have not had a "normal" BM since then until I started on plaquenil 13 months ago. I had occasional diahrea since then until november. I had a sigmodoscopy with biopsy. I have "active" colitis. What this is leading to is the Gastro dr put me on VSL #3. I have had "normal" BM's since that. When I go out now I don't have to worry where the Restrooms are. VSL#3 is over the counter not a prescription. It has really changed my life.

Life is good.

Cindy
