Somedays, I don't even want to get out of bed. So, what motivates me?

Faye,

It's so great you know yourself and your body so well.

I have to learn how to listen to my body when I don't feel like talking to others or being around people. You're right. No body wants to be around someone who is 'in a barrel'... crabby or moody. And prednisone... well, it affects me that way. So when I get like that, I just need to be alone. And I have to remind myself that's it's okay.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Mechelle,

I love all the poems and writings that have been put on the site of your discussion. Just so you know, the first hour of my day is my trickiest! Bob answers the phone calls, and by the end of the hour I am ready to face the world! My friends laugh and say I don't sound sick, to which I reply..."great, no one wants to talk to someone in a barrel!" I wouldn't have any friends if I stayed in my "wake up" state. Ha...I love to be cheerful and lift others. That helps my state of mind tremendously!

That was beautiful, Lia. Tell me about your pets. How many do you have and what are their names?

Meeks, that's too funny about tea solving all problems! Good way to put it! ;)

I have never tried milk in my tea, but I need to. Do you have a special biscuit recipe I can try? I can't cook.. but I will try it!

I drink green tea sometimes.. and add a ginger lemon mix to it. I have to be careful because I'm not sure what the sugar content is, and I'm currently taking insulin.

Hi Mechelle,

What motivates me, after restlessness through the night lately and it's always motivated me...is when i actually wake and feel motion in my legs and no paralization because whatever i suffer daily, that just makes my day knowing i can function without my wheelchair and get about on my own.

I am mainly motivated by my children, and I have been even prior to my diagnosis. I live for them, and I am working hard to make sure that they will have more opportunities than I did when they get older. I want them to have the best childhood, and the best life possible. There has been many days when I felt like I just couldn't go on any more, but I feel like no one else will care about their best interest more than I. I couldn't imagine my children struggling for a meal, or being unkempt because I decided to "throw in the towel". I don't even think my children know the capacity of my illness, and I prefer to keep it that way as long as I can. I had a hard childhood, and I sometimes feel like this is the reason why I struggle so much as an adult. I definitely don't want that for them, and I want to live to see them become the best they can be.

Hello Risa,

Such a touching reply and it's lovely to hear how you want the best for your kids, even though your struggling like you are...full admiration goes out to you. xxx

RisaRae.. that is SO moving. I'm printing this out.. so when I do have children (or adopt), I will remind myself of all the things you've mentioned.

You are a trooper. Wow. Keep pushing. And I pray the struggle won't last always.. that you'll find relief.. rest.. and peace.. and that you, too, will become the best YOU can be.

Thanks for sharing,

Mechelle

Hello Mechelle,

We all know Lupus gives we all such an hard time to different extents in each and everyone of us but there's nothing we can do except live our lifes as best as possible, mentally fight our days through even though it's an hard ride....because whatever we hope and wish for, we can only get that by doing our best...a large 80% of the group including myself have been handed a TASK and it's how we deal with it, that makes our lifes.

By now Mechelle you have figured out that I am a Jill Scott fan
When this song came up in my mix today, I thought about you - The song is "I Keep."

I keep
Moving forward, pressing onward, striving further
I keep
Keep on laughing, keep on living, keep on loving yeah
I keep
Keep on dreaming keep on achieving, keep on believing
I keep
I keep smiling when I come thru ...and I cry when I need too.

Hi Mechelle,

This morning i did'nt want to shift out of bed...leg spasms murdered me and all day my legs have ached and been swollen....so god knows what motivated me but i shifted myself in the end.

Hi Mechelle,

One of my favorites these days is 'Promises' by Skrillex. I like the dubstep element. There's also a remake of 'The Tide is High'-don't know who re-made it off hand. And a remix of "Tiny Dancer". I'm a sucker for re-mixes of old songs. I love ambient music too, if it has good vocals and melody.

My daugthers are 6 and 2. And they are busy bodies-active!!

I don't think the coffee helped that much. Today I had black tea. I don't remember what I ended up doing that day, but I'm sure I got up and around. I didn't waste much time. Maybe that's part of why I'm in this flare again-not resting enough. Too much heat and sun here.

Hugs to you as well-I like your post!

Nicole

Nicole,

Thanks for responding! What's one of your favorite songs? And how old are your daughters?

I understand how it feels to not want to get up. But, I also know how it feels to know you have so much to do.. that you don't want to waste the day.

Did you end up feeling better once you had your coffee?

Hugs to you.. and much love..

Let me know how you're doing.

GREAT! I'm going to listen to some music right now. I need some motivation.

Just watched this flash mob - uplifting..
