So my rhuemy went on holidays

the usual rhuematologist i see (and well, i don't get along with) went on holdays. His replacement is wonderful. A doctor who sat and discussed medication options and side effects with me, and listened to my uncertainty about prednisolone.
Tomorrow i start a low does (7.4mg) of prednisolone and 10mg of plaquentil. I have the prednisolone for three months until the plaquentil starts working, then i am being weaned off the prednisolone.
I'm still very nervous about the side effects these medications may cause, but i feel more reassured having a rhuemy who is willing to discuss them.

Does anyone else take both these medications combined?
Wish me luck xx

Hello ShadowFigment,

I am pleased you saw another rheumo and it's nice when your listened to, it's helps we all so much better for knowing what we're going through plus if anything else as occured but most of all which is important getting on the right meds to suite we.

I've not taken prednisolone so i can't help you there where other members can but regarding plaquentil which you've mentioned is Plaquenil which i take daily 400mg, it carries all side affects like other drugs but does'nt affect everyone but if you can master the drug starting off on a low dose should'nt be to bad as it's for DLE/SLE and can take upto 6mths to work but alot of us feel the affect before hand.

Have you seen an opthamologist before taking this drug?...as your surposed to to make sure your eyes are ok before hand to start it.

Here's a link below on the drug itself.

Best of Luck Terri :) xxx

The rhuemotologist told me to see an opthamologist 6 months into the plaquenil treatment.
thank you for the information :)

You are surposed to see one before hand...as i did besides my optician checking my eyes also because i suffer with my eyes.

As long as the appointments within those 6mths you should be ok, as alot of members go for years with no troube with plaquenil or their eyes.

Your welcome to the inforamtion :)

thank you :)
