Plaquenil update

First off, thanks to all of you who commented about Plaquenil on my last discussion! I read all of your comments carefully and they really have me hopeful that this will work.

So far I've taken two pills, one last night and one this morning. (I take two a day but I only just came home with it last night.) Anyway, even though this is irrational, I have a bit of a fear of taking pills! This may sound silly, but three years ago I was prescribed Bactrim by a doctor who thought that it would make me better. Obviously Bactrim and lupus don't always mix, but back then I didn't know I actually had lupus, and neither did my doctor. The reaction I had to it was absolutely horrific, and even though I feel much better than I did back then, I still have some post-traumatic stress from that whole episode taking it. So basically every time I get a new medication, I always get flashbacks from the time I took Bactrim, and I'm just stricken with fear. I hate it! But I don't let it stop me. I know Plaquenil will help me.

Sorry if this seems like crazy babbling but I just needed to get it out in the open, talking about it for once seems to help!

Have a wonderful pain-free day! <3

Thank you so much for your comment, it's really made me feel better.

Be well. <3

Lark,
We all have our fears. Congratulations on starting a new journey despite your fear.

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear. The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all. From now on you'll be traveling the road between who you think you are and who you can be. The key is to allow yourself to make the journey.”

Hello Lark,

Don't apologise for venting in your thread because it does'nt matter who it is in life, if we hold issues in, it only makes you worse plus it helps we to keep a regular check on you knowing how you are about drugs.

I'm pleased you've started on it because it is a great drug, takes up to 6mths in some people to work but you can find a difference in yourself before hand and i felt it working at nearly 3mths with my skin to start off with.

Like we've said some people get affects from the drugs and some don't and Fingerscrossed this end for you Lark you go ok on the drug.

"Please keep we updated regular when you can"....as it will be appreciated by we all.

Aw, thank you!

I"m actually really excited to take this and see how it works. I started the other day and so far I just have a mild headache and some nausea, but nothing too bad. I would be so happy if it helped cleared my skin up, that would be such a blessing. I'm glad it's worked for you!

Have a wonderful day! <3

Hello Lark,

Your welcome and you'll always get the support from us.

I had the headache slightly but the nausea more....if it ever affects your heart rate or breathing which is side affect to the drug you must tell either your GP or rheumo straight away...as i had that taking the drug in the day it kind of panic's you and i pulled off it but when a friend suggest night time...i had slight nausea again for a few days but nothing else after that, i'm now back on it at night taking it and i'm ok no side affects.

When i started on it, i had spots and psoriasis on my face/hands and legs and it did'nt take long to clear it up and even my hubby clocked the difference.

All the best with it Terri xxx
