well I have had an infection off and on for 3 months. Last Friday I went to my doctor had another infection had to go back on Tuesday for another antibiotic shot and my md took me out on fmla and said he was thru arguing with me about work he was not letting me go back. So I have short and long term disability at work I have been looking at finance, medical and life insurance, price of my meds can anyone think of other things I need to check on?
great questions. with reduced income, check into a local food bank to help with that need, or meals on wheels will bring one full cooked meal to you if your qualify. Some churches do a low cost boxed food program. Usually there will be some kind of charity organization in a town that will help with smaller bills like a water or electric or gas. Meds? Most pharmaceutical companies now have programs to help people who either don't have insurance or are low income. You have to apply to each one separately.
Also, make sure while on fmla that any insurance (medical,dental,eye care, life) premiums get paid. That way you won't lapse and get cancelled. You can also, depending on income, apply for EBT and SSI.
Much of this can be done online or hadled by phone.
other things to consider? transportation for medical care, or gas, and car insurance and upkeep. If you have the space and know of someone else who is struggling, you can become room mates, or take in a boarder to help with making your own financial responsibilities smaller.
Let family and friends know your doctor took you out of work, so you may need to get some help from them. You need to be resting and healing.
