Back yard trellises that my husband got me for Mother’s Day…That 5 box planter is to represent my g-kids…1 rose will go in ea. planter
The roses will be in the planter box so they won't climb...for exactly the same reason you mentioned. The neighbors weeds. They don't live there (the sister did and she passed away) So, now sits an empty house that's not maintained. They come out once in a blue moon they come out and mow and throw everything in a huge pile in the back yard. So, my husband finally got tired of it and he and the neighbor went over and cut all the branches and garbage that was coming into our yard ;) They are in the middle of a brother and sister dispute over whether to sell or rent the house.....ridiculous. I would love to see other ppl's flowers...I truly miss gardening so much....
The first thing I saw was that huge tall fence, and I thought hmm someone must have a big dog...lol That's a shame that area was left behind the fence to tend. I would not be able to care for that either,,,,heck, I can't even go outside ;( I love your clematis...lol...they're just like mine....and so purple...my favorite ;) They will look so pretty when they fill in.
Great thinking! Yes, I had an area where I thought the clematis would survive and perhaps even thrive....there was only one problem...that was when the neighbor passed and the sister became involved. Well, while they were fighting and deciding what to do with the house, they asked if my husband tended would he like to get paid for his efforts. (he used to help the woman that lived there...for nothing) He said okay and boy did it look nice and the clematis were going to town....that is until they asked him to stop, that they couldn't afford this any longer (she's an architect...he has a business and they live in separate states...obviously money is their true loves) The outcome? The weeds choked out my plants along that fence...including the clematis. Now, my husband just goes over there and tends the weeds so we can plants there...or my husband does. He does this for me cuz he knows how very much I miss gardening... ;)
Ann, I wanted to add that I'm very sorry this happened to you. Ppl are so rude sometimes...and I do know how hard that was for you!
Do you see that area to the right on their side of the fence that is overgrown with weeds? That used to be a concrete slab when Jill lived there(it used to be for a shed). When she passed and they made twice a yr trip to mow (and of course he had to drive fr Ohio to do it...not her who lived closer) So when they came out cleared the yard before they mowed they started piling the twigs and stuff on the concrete slab. After a few yrs the things started growing into trees and weeds! Instead of bagging the grass up, they just dumped IT there too! So now there it sits in all it's glory. grrrrrr.....
Oh my goodness Ann, you have absolutely no reason to apologize about venting. I think it is so cool that I can talk to someone about gardening and I am not talking or complaining about myself and my ailments! LOL I use a LOT of groundcover to keep the weeds at bay. In the front I have Sedum....has beautiful yellow starlike flowers on top & Creeping Jenny. Then on the side, I use Blue Spruce Stonecrop. It looks so pretty and I seldom have a weed pop through ;)
I love the plant in your front yard...it is beautiful! I also love the choc. ajuga...so pretty. I love plants that are unusual or unique...and I don't really have many. Thank you so much for sharing...plz show more if u have any..i love pics of others flowers !
