Memory loss

Hai,

I guess it could be NPSLE.
you need to take a blood test called ENA profile.
This gives list of anti bodies active.
If you have “RIVOSOMAL P- PROTEIN” is positive,
then the memory related problems are common.

Consult your doc on the above.

regards,

Karthik

It is “Ribosonal” not rivosomal

Well, I've done many of the things you've mentioned, except I haven't left something on the stove. But that's only because I do a walk through of the house before I leave and check every room carefully. I even check the doors once and see that it's locked, and I'm back five minutes later to see check it again because I can't remember if I did or not. I have taken my meds then a half hour later wonder if I've taken them. I'm starting to write the time down, which SOMETIMES helps. Sometimes I forget where the paper is. lol. I think to myself, what's happening to me!!!!!! My daughter's birthday is today so I took her to the Oasis. I look up the menu online before hand. I leave the web site, my mother comes in the room 2 minutes later and says, "Oh, I want to take a look at the menu, too." I stare at her blankly and say, "Ok, what's the name of the restaurant?" She shook her head sadly, "The Oasis". It's embarrassing to have these fugue moments. I also will drive past places over and over or I'll pull into a Walgreens parking lot, cut the engine, start to get out then look around and go, "What? What am I doing here! I meant to go pick up a pizza." I get extremely distracted and confused. I'm about ready to file for disability. I don't see how I can work. I'm 54 (I think) and slowing down. I'm lucky if I can type 30 WPM. Learning is confusing and slow. So, know that you are not alone! Bless your heart, you hang in there. Don't panic until you know what's wrong with you. It could be an imbalance of a certain mineral or the adverse side effects from your medication. Hopefully, it will be something they can correct or at least help improve. Chin up!!!!! Hugs, Gail

Hi, it's all part of this LUPUS stuff that we go through. Talk with your doctor, hopefully he will refer you to a Psychologist , or a nerogolist to see if there is something else going on (if this contuine) . Hope that there is nothing major going on with you . But yes there are moments that i've had ( time to time ) where i forget what am talking about with others and forget what am doing or about to do. Now i just Laugh at myself , and keep talking- sometimes it comes back to me and sometimes it don't, until another moment . But i don't pay that much attention to it moment anymore !!!! yeah for awhile i thought that i was going crazie but my doctors did help me through that early part , with some nerve pills. well hope that things work out for you and best wishes...Beverly L.

DONT FEEL BAD IM STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO TELL MY GIRLFRIEND OF 2 YEARS I DONT REMEMBER HER BIRTHDAY WITH OUT HURTING HER FEELING I FORGET BILLS, SOMETIMES BEFORE I GO TO WORK I CANT FIND MY DOOR KEYS BECAUSE THERE STILL IN THE DOOR, I WILL BE SITTING IN THE LIVING ROOM WHEN THE SMOKE DETECTOR WOULD GO OFF FOR NO REASON, THEN I WOULD REMEMBER IM COOKING, SOMETIMES I THINK IM A DANGER TO MY SELF BUT THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS ASK GOD TO WATCH OVER ME IM DOING THE BEST THAT I CAN, I READ UP ON IT ITS CALLED THE LUPUS FOG SO WE HAVE TO STAY FOCUS AND ALERT AS POSSIBLE IN THE FOG

I have this problem too! It’s 1 of those things I’m not sure if I should blame it on the lupus or the fibro or both.
Little tips that help me is using 1 calendar to write all appointments, birthdays and all that down. I Keep mine in the kitchen where I have to look at it all the time. I try my best never to multitask, which is really hard with 2 boys in the house! I also have a notepad that I also keep in the kitchen, and I write everything down. I still do stupid stuff though, the other day I was going to make pasta, so I put the pot on the stove and turn the heat up and then I proceeded to start laundry. I came out of the laundry room and smelled a burning smell and remembered I was cooking. Not only that I forgoten I was making pasta, I forgot to put water in the pot! Lol

Well, ladies n gents, here the most recent update. I went and saw my Rheumy today and he's pretty convinced that my memory issues are mostly related to stress. Not only am I dealing with this crappy new disease, I found out 2 weeks ago my father has skin cancer, I not only have my 2 boys I have 2 stepchildren who despise me and my husband ex who continues to add fuel to that fire. I could probably go on and on about all the things that totally stress me the hell out, but the one thing that he pointed out today and that I guess I have known all along is that if I let it all get to me IT WILL OVERWHELM ME. So here's to all of us, lupus or not, don't let life overwhelm you. Stress is an evil thing and can change your mind and your body quickly and without warning.

On a side note: I am feeling quite a bit better this week. I was able to talk about everything with my amazing husband. I should always feel like I can talk to him but I never want to burden him. Another lesson learned: Those who truly love you will never feel burdened by you, or at least not let you know it. ;) love to you all.

DesireaLynn,

About 2 months back I posted about memory loss (I actually forgot a Dr.s visit that I went to) still no recollection of it. Only remembered because they called to confirm the follow-up. After some very wonderful advice from the people here, I had to make some changes that have been helpful.

First was getting a dayplanner, which I check every evening. Not electronic because I change appts, etc so often, I would never be organized. I keep all of my current meds written down, in pencil so dosage or med can be changed. All of my docs, their specialties and numbers. The one I got has two calendars per month so that I can track appts and in the larger area notate how I feel, reactions to meds, appetite, etc. This has been invaluable...truly. It fit's in my pocketbook (that was a necessity) and I am able to take it with me everywhere.

There are several wonderful suggestions that you can try, and you will find something that works for you, whether it be a kitchen timer for cooking, a tape recorder for Dr. visits, or other devices that assist you with everyday chores. Laundry one day, clean bathroom Tues, etc. at least that is what i do so that I don't try to do too much, but also manage to get things done.

Good luck and I hope some of the suggestions that have been made will help you.
