I was'nt out to frighten you but just giving you the precautions with getting pregnant with Lupus and needing proper good care while carrying your child and letting you know issues which can arise, it's better to know than wondering and worry yourself plus members have commented well also who have had children with Lupus, which will give you an open aspect to it all.
You've pointed out some symptoms from your previous children so it's best to becareful and i really hope your pregnancy goes well.
All my love Terri xxx

Thank you everyone for advise and kind words! This isn't my first child but it's my first after being diagnosed. But now that I look back a lot of things make sence now. My oldest was born with a hole in her heart and my other one was 4 weeks preterm. They are 8 and 9. I've been in an active flare for two years. But was just finally diagnosed after a bad visit to the ER this fall. Er doctor knew right away what my regular doctor took two years to figure out. Also, I had a miss carriage about a year and half ago at 6 weeks.
I don't think i've scared Lisa to death....she wanted good advice as she's got it from all members but taking precautions is important as you know where Lupus is concerned and i hope she carries her child well without any complications what so ever. :) xxx

Terri I think you scared Lisa to death!
Lisa and Haitian Barbie, don't worry. Take it day by day like Whathappensinvegas said. The fears are usually worse than the reality. Any problems that come up will be taken care of by your Dr. or hospital. Best wishes!
My mother's name is Sheila, so your's would be somewhat difficult to forget, although I do have lupus so you never know :)

DeAnne, wow, 2 lbs, and boys have it much tougher as a preemie than girls. Mine was 3 lbs, brought her home at 4 lbs. Glad to learn your name. I keep a page on my computer where I write the person's nickname and their real name, or else I'll never remember them, except for those I get to know really well. Have a good evening.

I am so sorry for your loss, and much like you I didn't know I had lupus, but after my diagnosis everything just seemed to click. You have much in common with Sheila with the heart issues with her children. I am pleased you can find someone with whom to share your fears. As you miscarried after a pre-term as I did, I am certain you know that you may need to take extra precautions. Now that you know what took your doc 2 years to figure out (not unusual) know you can lean on us.
So happy for you :)

Also, so pleased that you were able to carry your daughters and are healthy. Mine is 18, a total jerk :), but a healthy jerk.

I second that jerk comment for 18 year olds. But, this is part of the maturation process. I love my 17 almost 18 year old jerk.

I went into labor and was at 4cm by the time I got to the hospital. I was 27 weeks, but the hospital was able to stop it until the first day of week 28. I was just moved into a regular room, I wasn't going home until after the birth, in a room right next to the OR. Moved from the bed to the potty chair (only exercise allowed) and his foot came out. They turned the bed upside down and shoved him back in. Tell you, until you go through something like that you don't really appreciate how easy the first one was. 3 lbs, wow, how long was she in the hosp? 4lbs. Then they lose a few oz and it's so scary. So happy she is healthy. But again that first day you get to hold them...day 25 for me is the greatest day. Just think it is important for someone that is "high risk" , as I was unaware I was, take good care of themselves.

Thankfully this is the place where you can say what you want or need to :). My 24 year old on the other hand is the son every mother wants. Was from the day he was born.
A mother's life, eh?

Bless you. There are so many children that are in need of a good home. My husband and I are unable to conceive, and while we don't wish to adopt we did get certified as foster parents. I spent much of my youth in the foster system and it was a less than wonderful experience. We like (some) kids, but this was a middle ground that we felt we could give something back because we are so fortunate. You are a very special person to open you home and hearts like that.
I didn't mean to offend you. That first fact would have scared me if I was pregnant for the first time "25x more deaths if you have lupus than not", but yes, the rest of the info was good. I'm also the type who would rather know the facts than worry. My imagination is always worse than the facts are. Since Lisa has had children, she'll be more level headed. (Lisa, we're talking in front of your back. [with kindness] hee hee hee.)

I saw where this info came from the info came from the info posted a couple of days ago. It's got a tab at the top. Super info. If you haven't read it, it might be worth the time. Simple wording, which I find to be the most yet. I don't know why doctors feel the need to put it into unrecognizable language. Frankly, I find that the most frustrating part of this. My first doc...medical was his first language. "Hey, dude, lupus here...dummy it down a bit, please." I know so much more now, but still I can always learn and share. I am like you and Terri, info is the best force against fear and stress.
You are a sweetie, I hope to get to know you better,
DeAnne, i'm a bit lost. Bad Brain fog. Which info, what tab?

Totally get the brain fog. Terri put together a good bit of information on Lupus that I find especially easy to understand. At the top of the site, where you would choose members, group, etc. there is a tab that say Lupus Overview. It's really quite good. Quite a few things I hadn't known before.
Don’t worry I wasn’t frightened by any of the info that was so kindly shared here for me. I’d like to be just as prepared as I can be even if that means knowing all the gritty details. I’m still learning all that I can about Lupus before being diagnosed I had never heard of it. I’m taking everything one step at a time. I do have a feeling I’m going to go through a lot of obgyn I have the right to be picky thank you again for taking the time to inform and encourage me! What a wonderful group of people!
Terri, what a wonderful report you created! DeAnne, thanks for drawing my attention to it!!

We are only as strong as the information we know. I just got back from my new rhuemy (best in the city, used to teach about lupus at UCIrvince) where I was told I have a particularly "robust" form. Next week is going to be a total scarefest while deciding what to do. And naturally, don't have just SLE, that would be too easy. I find that I am far less frightened than I might have been had I not read Terri's info. As my doc is super and lupus her specialty, I plan to be sharing a lot of information.
Way to be proactive...yes you do have the right to find the best care for you and the one on the way. There are several of us that have had children with 0 complications, and then some that have had nothing but...some like Sheila and I, have had both. Medical advances for "high risk" delivery is better than ever. You keep that positive attitude and we will keep being right here for you.
Sorry youy did'nt have any children of your own through Lupus but so beautiful to hear you gave two children a kind and loving home...that's so nice to hear :) xxx

Your coment did shock me at first i'll be straight as that's so unusual out the blue with yourself as your always so thoughtful.
I believe in giving members straight opinions on Lupus and have done since i've joined and some members have joined panicking and i can honestly say...i'm so proud of so many i've been intouch with regular who have chatted with me either on my profile or chatroom and have learnt to understand Lupus and really carried on with their lifes and that's one really good thing to respect in members.
Your comment as made me laugh though towards Lisa at the bottom:
(Lisa, we're talking in front of your back. [with kindness] hee hee hee.)....Naughty sheila.lol
