Hip pain

I was diagnosed with Lupus just a few weeks ago. I've been very sick all year. My hips are killing me I'm in so much pain, and I have zero energy. I can't see the specialist until Jan. My family dr gave me an anti inflammatory but not helping at all yet. Any suggestions for pain or fatigue

Did you get the ANA blood test, or is it your symptoms that he is diagnosing as Lupus? If he has diagnosed you, why not get you started on a anti-malarial drug, they will start people on it even if they suspect Lupus.
Good luck!

My dr. gives me a steroid shot directly into my hip for my pain. I’m allergic to the oral steroids. It helps me for about 4 days. But it might decrease the inflammation more for you. It’s worth discussing with dr. Good luck hope this helps!

Please please get another option. I was diagnosed in June 2011. It started with hip pain at the age of 25. It hurt bad. X ray showed nothing. No ra or anything so then out blue dr calls you tested positive in 5 areas buti can’t read it got see this other dr. Had to wait 7 weeks. Finally seen dr said it’s lupus. Tested me again said not to bad but take these pills. I refused. Over the next year I kept seeing the Dr and hurting. Finally they did mri on my back that had been ordered 3 years before when I was in a car accident. They found smashed and herniated disks. After another year and another year in pain I demanded to see another dr. He finally did mri on hip. At follow up apt he said mri looked good. I flipped out over 3 years in pain and nothing there! !! Finally after my fit I received an mri with dye in it. They found a Crack in my hip. They couldn’t stop apologizing. Then they sent me to what I was told only dr in my state who can fix my hip without totally replacing my hip, just to find out doesn’t accept my insurance. Butt I do know the snapping cracking and popping in my hip is my bone grinding across the part of my cartalige that is torn. Please for the sake of pain push your Dr to find an answer. Don’t settle until your better!

first i was told i had lupus, but i cant take the meds,it causes gastinal bleeding,so anyway to make along story short i have all kinds of health issues including severe pain in left hip,so i recently started seeing a pain management dr and i love her ,shes great, she did what they call a lower lumbar injection and it really did help butthen my body had a reaction to it and i cant get them now.but i also forgot that about 5yrs after the told me i had lupus,i went to diferant drs because mine said she couldnt do anything for me because of the way my body reacts to the meds.and by changing drs i found out i have mixed connective tissue disease, not just lupus.so my advice is if u dont get results change drs.good luck

I had terrible left hip pain for over a year and a half, finally after several doctors they found my hip was bone on bone, just had a hip replacement on 10/30/14, what a godsend!! No more pain!!! In other words…never give up!! If your in pain there is a reason, don’t stop until you get answers, sending hugs to you, good luck!!

My ANA was positive he did put me on abri inflammatory but o don’t seem to feel any change of it

I know this is going to sound counter-intuitive to a degree, but if you have not had a Dexa scan for bone density and health it’s hard to say what may be caused it.
For my hip pain I have found that a hot bath with Epsom salts are a great instant pain reliever , as well as just doing some light stretching and moving the hips before I ever get out of bed.
Advil is my goto anti-inflammatory but be careful as to how much you take of any otc meds.
If you are small boned as I am, it could be that you are not getting enough calcium and it’s important to remember that our lupus meds will reduce the existing amount after long-term use.
I’m not a milk drinker, but yogurt, cheese, etc., plus a calcium vitamin could help.
Before thinking of radical options try to strengthen what you have. You are still quite young.
A heating pad can be your best friend, especially this time of year.
