Hey, a couple of months back I was diagnosed with lupus. The gp never actually told me which one I had, I’ve done my own research and the too that look like I have is SLE and Lupus Anticoagulant. Wondering if anyone else have both.
Hi MysticAngel,
The types of Lupus are discoid (skin), sle, and lupus caused from drugs. Lupus anticoagulant is lupus that is attacking your blood and causing blood clots. I recently had to be checked for this. Usually you are checked if you have some kind of blood clot event. Normally you would see a hematologist for this. To be diagnosed with it you have to have had an event that was probably caused by a blood clot and you have to also test positive for the bloodwork twice three months apart. I had an event and tested positive the first time but the second set of bloodwork was normal, so I do not have it. Talk with your doctor, you need to be informed about your type of Lupus and what you should be doing. Your gp should be referring you to a rheumy. I hope this helps.
I’ve previously had multiple blood clots in both lungs. Ringing doctors this week to find out which one it is, as symptoms wise link to SLE but blood wise it links to lupus anticoagulant if you know what I mean.
You can have both. Lupus sle is the primary disease, lupus anticoagulant would be an effect from the sle. It is wise for you to call your doc. Let us know what he says. Good luck.
Okay and i will
Well I’ve got a rheumatology appointment today, to find out which lupus I have, will let you know how it goes
Hi. I was told I have sle and the anticoagulant. Though it is possible to have both. Interestingly enough and thank G, I haven’t had a clotting episode. It was diagnosed with blood tests.
You never know what to expect from lupus!
