I was just diagnosed in May, and I am still trying to figure out what a "flare" really is. As well as when do you know you are in remission etc.... My last labs showed the my inflammation levels are way down but I don't feel any different. I was also wondering how long do your "remission/inactive" stage lasts? Have you never been in "remission"? Are you in a constant "flare"?
Great question Louters, I have been wondering this as well. Really looking forward to reading responses
I think that it is easier to understand if your disease is active or not When active you will have good days/weeks and bad weeks - these are not flares- it is the normal activity of the disease. When you are in remission or your disease is 'quiet' as most doctors put it you have virtually no disease symptoms for a prolonged period of time. Confusing things, especially as we age is telling the difference from other medical problems and your AI illness. Many of us have joint damage or osteoarthritis which cause a lot of pain- hard sometimes to tell the difference between your lupus pain and just getting old pain
Thank you for the info it really helped understanding it a little more. :)
