Start on hydroxy today so im a bit seceptical. Made me very sick last time but il give it another go. Heard it can give you an energy boost so thatl be good cus im so weary and tired. I dont have problems with skin rash just as well cus in england we havinng a heat wave which is lovely. Gonna try taking it at night as advised by a member of group so will keep you posted. X
I started it in March, when I was diagnosed. My joints were swollen and I was unable to open bottles, had trouble changing diapers, and even holding my baby at times. I couldn't wear any rings, or go down on the floor to play with my kids. 4 months later, my inflammation is down tremendously. I still get tired, but I can do a whole lot more, and have more strength and energy in general. The doctor said she was really happy with how much the medication has helped me and she is hopeful that it will keep things in check for some time.
I used it for a good Ten years with cortisone now i have a negative ANA at least for now.
minnie,
That's nice news to hear and lets hope it leads to remission for you in the coming future :)

I've been on it for a year and drive explained to me that it was like a lupus vitamin...I actually had less pain/fatigue before I started on lupus meds butguess I might be worst without it

Hi Sonja ! Just got back online for the first time in a while. Been feeling pretty rotten for a few weeks. So I finished my first month of Hydrochloroquine yesterday. Still nothing in results. On top of that ive been weaning myself off of methadone I take for the pain. went from 8 daily to 2 daily. Im so used to feeling bad that I haven't noticed any withdraw symptoms (: So anyway my point of reply was to ask you how its going so far on the Hydrochloroquine?

That's a good question Monique! I've been on it for 1-1/2 months so I will be interested in seeing the responses you get. Have a good day. :)

Hi Jillzee (: Does it help with muscle weakness and fatigue?

I've been taking this medicine since 1996 and it does help, but does not completely take all aches and pains away. It takes a while for the medicine to build up in your system. Hope this helps.
I don't know how long I have been on plaquenil and I often wonder if it is doing any good. I am in a cycle where my legs feel so weak that I have to sit down after 5 minutes of work and rest. I don't understand it at all because other days I can do a lot. I've been like this again for about 2 weeks. I won't go off the plaquenil because I think the fatigue is a little better then it was. Try to hang in there and jot down all your issues daily.
