I am 58 this month since about 1987 I have seem many, many doctors. I have had every emotion there is towards the Drs. I have seen. A lot of disappointment. At one time I told myself that is it no more doctors. I went alternative, then back to western medicine and in between. Since last July when I was really sick. I have seen so many dr.s. What I have come to realize is no matter what title they have, they are people first , then doctors. What I mean by this is they are human just like you and me. I thought they were God like figures all knowing, must have the answers.. they were doctors!! Not so, very intelligent most are.... very knowledgeable most are. Not God !!
Those of us with chronic illness, I think really need to pay close attention to what the doctors are saying and how it is being said. I find this difficult as I don't feel good, but just recently I was caught up in a drama between two doctors.(they apparently did not respect each other as people or doctors not sure) This opened my eyes!! I was in the middle for a day, now I can say, they did the best they know how to do even if it was frustrating...
Wishing you all a Wonderful day!!!
My new grand dog her name is Phoebe, she has stolen my heart!!
And we as patients often are unrealistic in our expectations We demand that they FIX our illness and make it all go away - Pain Vanish Fatigue never to be seen again and on and on Realistically they can only guide us to less intense symptoms or less life threatening complications This is a chronic disease/disorder and is not fixable - a bitter pill to swallow for sure
I have a Puggle which is a Pug/Beagle mix so I love your Pug picture!! I agree with your comments about doctors. I too have seen doctors since 1987 ( when diagnosed at 18). I have encountered so many different personalities in my doctors - I have come across some serious jerks as well as some incredibly kind and caring MDs. Yes, they are all individuals and fallible, at times. Lupus is a complicated and frustrating illness. I have had my doctor sit with me looking sad and lost when she knew there was nothing more she could do for me. They are taught in medical school that they will go out in the real world and help people. i am sure it is painful and difficult when they are not able to help some of us. it is so important for us to be advocates for ourselves when it comes to our health. By being our own advocates then we are able to help health professionals help us. It is also empowering to be in charge of our health. Doctors are definitely not Gods and their purpose is to help us. If you have a chronic illness and cannot relate to your doctor then its time to get a doctor you like and trust!
First of all this is the cutest little pug!! Those eyes are killer!
I agree with you so much on the doctors, we must remember it is the practice of medicine. My doctor so appreciates it when I do a lot of research and give her information on anything related to my illness. Actually she has some similar issues too. We need to learn to work with the doctor and not expect them to just have all the answers and fix us.
However, I have had my share of strange doctors who just didn't fit for me and we parted ways! It is very frustrating to have chronic illness for us and the doctor who really can't fix us...just make us more comfortable as we live our lives.
Phoebe is 10 weeks old now, she is sooo cute, and the changes each week are amazing. I enjoy her and all my furry friends. I have began to feel like I am getting another flare it is so strange. It is this time every year. The neurologist I see said maybe I have cyclemethia probably spelled that wrong. On and on it goes. have any of you had cycle pain??
Yes they are humans first then Doctors! But they try very hard to give answers and help as much as they can. Sometimes they do 4get that we are also humans that have feelings! I don’t think that they don’t care about how we feel , they really want to help ease what we go through ! Never the less it does not make sense , but they do their best . Lupus is something that science is still try to understand , which is better than it was from the past ! In time it will be understood . So keep those thoughts in mind when you visit , they are doing the best as much as they can to help !!! The dog it pretty , how old is the pup? well , hang in there and take care talk with you later…Beverly L.
