Hi Im 21 with SLE . I was wondering if anyone else has dealt with trying to lose weight with lupus .i've been trying to lose 25 pounds for a while...but i cant seem to :( I workout for at least an 30 min a day but sometimes my joints will hurt later on that day.i don't put to much pressure on my body but i cant seem to loose the weight . im open for any healthy recommendations (:
Can’t lose weight no matter what I do, what I eat. Makes no difference. I took probiotics and I lost 15 pounds eating pizza and McDonald’s. My gut doesn’t recognize food like a normal persons. The probiotics helped digestion. Not at all understood but it works. Solves my IBS also. I use renewlife.com senior ultimate flora. They tested highest. There are others though that I’m sure would work. Have to make sure their shelf life is guaranteed that the bacteria are alive no matter the conditions
Same problem here, no matter what I do the weight just stays there, I will give the probiotics a try, I would love to lose even just 10 pounds at this point!
If you have access to a swimming pool try swimming it’s a better workout and not as hard on the joints
I am in the same boat, I am researching several diet changes now, if you’d like I can keep you updated on what I find… Good luck.
I heard about a product called Plexus from a friend of mine.
It's marketed for weight lose but lots of people that take it talked about the added benefits of it. People with all sorts of aliments were saying how much better they felt. Sleeping better, less pain, fatigue and had more energy.
I decided to give it a try - primarily to get some relief from the constant fatigue and aches & pains. Weight lose was my 2nd concern - not that I didnt need to lose some. Well, let me tell you, I'm so glad I tried it ! I feel sooo much better AND since last March I have lost 20 lbs. I don't exercise, other than a 15 min walk twice a day with my dog and I'm not good at watching what I eat at all.
I got the okay from my primary Dr & Rheumy before I started taking it, they are both very pleased with the results. My blood work is coming back great & I'm off all but one of my meds.
Plexus slim, often called "the pink drink" comes as a powder in individual packets similar to those Crystal Light on the go packets. You mix it in a bottle of water & drink it first thing in the morning daily. Just one packet a day. It even taste good. The other thing that is important is to be sure to drink plenty of water - like at least 6 bottles of water everyday.
I don't sell this stuff so Im not trying to make a profit by saying this but this stuff really works. It also comes with a 60 day money back guarantee so you have nothing to lose if its not for you.
You can google Plexus Slim to find a sales ambassador or you can message me & I can hook you up with the woman I buy mine through. It's all done through the mail & the ship anywhere.
water aerobics and swimming are good exercises and it's not hard on your joints. Some gyms with a pool will give you a discount if you give them a Doctors note about your joint problems. I just got a prescription from a NP at the internal medicine doctor's office for access to a wellness center to exercise for a month.
following :) I also have pcos and insulin resistance ... weight loss is an extreme struggle :(
I also have trouble losing the weight that I gained when I quit smoking. I thought about trying weight watchers but the meetings can get expensive when they want you to come and weigh in on a weekly basis.
Would love any suggestions. Maybe just watch calories and try swimming which sounds good to me.
Very low carb. At least at first. All natural fresh food. No junk food. Keep fruit low and focus on fresh (organic if possible) food. Veggies and fresh meat. Basically a paleo diet. (Lots of info on google). I lost 15 of my 30 lb weight gain from being on prednisone for 8 months. Fell off the wagon when got so sick this summer but trying it again. Hard to do but worth it.
All organic diet made me lose weight when I didn’t want to. It met help? I take VSL3 probiotics. They have helped a lot for my digestive issues.
Thank you all for your weight loss tips if i try anything and it works i will be sure to let you all know ! :) i might even post before & after pics . i'm defiantly going to swim more and eat less carbs & eat more fresh foods thank you ladies ! hope you all have a great weekend pain free.
I here you. I’m 33yrs old and have been struggling with weight loss for a few years. So, after talking with several people and a nutritionist they all said about the same thing. To cut out gluten, soy, preservatives, food coloring, dairy and sugar (honey and organic maple syrup is ok). So now if I can once again go through another diet change and make this one part of my everyday living like I have had to in the past. I can hopefully loose the 90lbs I need too.
Are you taking prednisone? I gain 30lbs while I was taking it, didn't lose it until I stop taking it. Exercise when you are able and watch you eat, eventually the weight will come off. Stay strong kid,asia64
I read a book called “The Lupus Recovery Diet”. It is basically a vegetarian based while food diet. It follows a lot of the same philosophy as Dr Fuhrmans Eat to Live Diet and the Anti Inflammatory Diet by Dr Sears. I lost 15 pounds in about two months. I still have another 15 to go to get back to my Pre-lupus weight. As for exercise, I can only manage my daily yoga practice. Which has become much more of a meditation practice than the hard core yoga I used to do. But at least it is something. The diet hasn’t really helped with the pain or fatigue but I did lose weight. It is difficult to follow if u don’t have the energy to prepare and buy fresh foods though. But I can say it is honestly the way we should all be eating. In a perfect
I took it for about a month but i stopped because i felt like it wasnt doing anything for me.but yeah i had heard you gain weight taking that pill .yeah ill try thanks
