Jujubee,
More worried about sticking yourself in a huge, powerful magnet with metal in your body. Could be an unpleasant outcome.
Please keep us updated on the outcome,
XOXO,

Oh WOW..I'm so glad you mentioned that about the MRI. I'm coming up soon for a T2 Flair MRI for my brain. Good to know..YIKES I wouldn't want to short circuit on the table!!!!! Thank you Thank You Thank You!!!!! :)
Titanium is compatible with MRI's, however the battery for a spinal stimulator is compatible with a 1.5 Tesla unit, ONLY!. I have the info from the manufacturer. Even then in the 1.5 T unit it should only be used for a brain MRI and not anything below the neck. I have several MRI's before the stimulator implant.
You will, of course, want to check this out with your docs. However, titanium is compatible with MRI.
Been in the big magnet with my titanium parts several times and come out fine. Got my first titanium back in 88. Before the next MRI I called the imaging department. They explained that not all metals are magnetic.

Thanks Ann, I also have low levels of vitamin D and I jus found ou I have low blood pressure and abnormal ecg. Going fo a ecogram, if it's not normal then I will not be clear for the surgery. It's good to know I have others praying for and with me.

When this article appeared in my inbox, I immediately thought of your question about recovery from surgery. I also realized that I had not given a correct answer. I had no problem recovering from the back surgery that I had last year. But in 2009 when I had kidney surgery and the broken leg it looked as though I would never recover. That is when my physician finally decided to check my vitamin D level and discovered that I was severely deficient. So, it comes as no surprise to me that someone is studying how healing after surgery is associated with vitamin D levels.
I have been keeping up with New York Giants research because I am having such a difficult time getting my athletic grandchildren to take their vitamin D.
Please don't forget to inform your docs about your implant. When I had my MRI today I asked about a titanium nut and bolt in the lower spine vs upper. The Open-Sided MRI's are incredibly powerful and you may feel some discomfort. Although many people may never experience a problem, they ask about the implants for a reason. Perhaps your entire implant may not be titanium or some other issue. Better safe than sorry.
Good luck on it,
DeAnne
