Planquenil

Hi Laura, Lupus is a crazy disease , meaning it can mimic a wrong diagniose sometimes! It took my doctor 2.5months to diagniose my tests , along with a lot of blood work. But when the results came back I was so happy that I didn’t have to go through doing blood work until 3-5months later. He gave me meds., that made me sick the first two weeks , nose bleeds at first but after that he took me off those and put me on planquenil and prednisone, which kicked in Quick!! And that same doctor then is still my doctor to this day and am still taking the same meds. He want me to come off the prednisone , but am not going to do that -it helps me! We came up with an plan to do the meds and that works just the same. Oh, the planquenil works Great for me also, I won’t change nothing, no matter what - my experience with both of them are Good! Hope that this reply help you, …Beverly L.

Thank you Beverly for sharing that with me. Im hoping to have the same outcome. Prayers and love to all.

My Lupus is also mild....no major organ involvement. I tried the Plaquenill for about 4 months but my eye dr doesn't want me on it because of dry mac in both eyes. He says that the Plaquenill can affect the retina and make the mac worse. Don't want that to happen! So I have been off the Plaquenill for about a month and my brain fog is gone - still have about the same number of flares as when I was on it but they are no worse then when I was on the meds. I find that a strong cup of coffee really helps about mid day. Have decided that I need to figure out how to live with this and understand my limitations. Have a good group of friends who are helpful and very understanding and support me as needed. My younger sister died from complications of Lupus about 4-1/2 years ago but she made some bad choices about her care. I plan to make it to 90!!!
