I just started cellcept and lisinopril about two weeks ago. In addition to my normal 60 mg prednisone, coumadin, and lexapro. My blood pressure has aways ran low but the last week my blood pressure has been running high and I have had to excruciating migraines in the last 5 days. I'm almost certain there is a link between the meds, high blood pressure, and migraines. I have had migraines before but never like the two I just had. Sent me to the ER both times. Has anyone had an similiar side effects from any of these meds? I pray it isn't the cell cept because I have already been through plaquenil (allergic), methotrexate (liver problems), and just recently diagnosed with lupus nephritis. Thanks to anyone that can shed some light.
Prednisone is well known to cause high BP- especially at these higher doses. Kidney disease also can increase BP. In addition to the lisinopril you should restrict your salt intake
this could be a reaction from the cellcept....call your doctor....
People react different to medications. The fact that you may be having prescription allergies may be a sign that you are sensitive to certain ingredients. I am allergic to some meds, but not Coumadin, Prednisone, or Lisinopril. Yet, I have other prescription allergies that no one else has.
I would talk to your doctor.
I take lisinopril, lexapro and prednisone. I do not have any headaches as side effects, but we are all different. Get hold of your doc - you shouldn't have to suffer like this!
Thanks everyone! I did talk to my rheumy and he took me off of the cellcept for a couple days but BP stayed high so he put me back on it and raised the lisinonpril. I think he is trying to pinpoint which med is causing the high BP and migraines. If they are even related. I love that about autoimmune disease, what is disease, what is side effect, what is normal, what…what…what!AHHHHHHHH!
Sometimes it takes a little time to build up a tolerance to new medicines. Read the side effects on the prescription.paper work. Talk to your doctor. The heat can also.be a factor in all this. I.have been keeping headaches and I seem to get preasure issues this time.of year. Idk, just felt the need to suggest. Good luck and stay blessed.
I was on lisinopril and it had my bp through the roof. I split the dosage in half am/pm. That worked for me but like they said everyone is different. Hope you find out what the problem is. .
