I know this is off topic but is anyone here couponing? I am going to financial hardships & needed some tips on how to coupon.
Nice change of topic.. Yes, I coupon. This works for me. I cut out all the coupons, I need from 3 major newspapers, then I go through the sales inserts for major stores; target, walmart, etc, then match the sales with the smaller stores, cvs, rite aid, etc. My last stop is a grocery store, because, the grocery store has sales on rotations, but the other stores, I mentioned above have sales that match the coupon inserts. In one trip I saved 150.00 getting the items for 100.00, I was so happy. I felt like I was on the show extreme couponing. If you have a big order go during the week, less people. If you see an item you want, but, don't need right now, save it along with the expiration date, so you can go get it later. Buy newspapers during the week too, sometimes the valuable coupons (femme products, etc) will be in the weekday, to reduce the amount of customers, the company has to save too. Try it!
Couponing helped me with my organizational skills, memory issues and forced me to use parts of my brain that are foggy sometimes. It can really help your family and make you feel less of a burden, it did for me.
Thanks for the advise! I to would like to get into couponing but am not really sure where to get them. I live in a small town & we only get one Sunday paper from the nearest larger town from 100 miles away. Ever since I got really sick & had to go on disability my family has struggled financially from all the medical bills on top of our normal bills & with one child in college & another in high school times just seem to be getting tougher every month. So any advise for someone in a small town on how to come up with coupons would be greatly appreciated! :-)

My biggest question is where do you get your coupons? We only get a Sunday paper with coupons & I get what I can off line but they don't seem to add up to the big savings that everyone talks about.
The sunday paper, is the best with the larger coupon values. Call your local store and see if they deliver newspapers or go online and subscribe to a weekly subscription to a newspaper, you will get the paper at your door. Small towns often have a newsstands with papers. Check it out.

You can also price match items then if you have coupon use it as well.
Hay everyone! this crazie thing happened to me this morning about 1:00am at the store buying groceries , i have been sleeping lately at all , so last nite my oldest son asked me ,"do you want to go shopping ? Why not , yes let's go. we shop for i know at the most about 1hour and 45 mins (give or take- it was not a in out thing) , that was fine because i was not sleepie, anyway after shopping we ring everything up in two different lines( self check out) , my son pull out the coupons and the store personal goes CRAZIE along with the manager (keep in mind this is a store that we shop at All the time - which is a distance from our home), the customer service guy take the coupons to the manager and comes back and tells us we can't use them !!!! Excuse me is running through my head , but i could not get it to come out my mouth , so know , let me run down the type of son i have , HE DON'T take no B-S,he has to have a reson of WHY!!!! he is not a pain in the but , he get straight to the solution of a situation so it ca be handled correctly- that is how i used to be& i miss that so very much- so now am about to freeze my buns off waiting on the manager to come from the loading dock to explain this no off line coupons stuff to us. He took so long to come , so i went and asked someone stocking the store to please go and get him , well, the manager had went to the front of the store where my son was , by the time i made it back to checkout he was going back to the back (loading dock) , sooooooooooooooo, my son explain some dump STUFF that the manager said to him about some new policey!!!!! What ?What ?What? my brain could not process it to understand none of what my son was saying that the manager had stated to him . so, i had the customer service guy to call him back to the front, at this moment i was so confussed i started laughing as the manager got closer( his face expression was crazie) , but my son says mom just stay calm, i told my son my body has walked around this store and am not hearing no dump stuff -REALLY!!!at this time of morning. The manager has this crazie look like what do you (me) want now. i say to him break down what you said to my son about the coupons so that we all can be on the same page ? This is the part where the manager attitude , getures, aroa,and everything got STUPID! yes we were all talking loud, some customers came from different parts of the store looking at the 4 of us discussing the problem of NEW POLICES about coupons...I told him ,I have never heard of this before and asked was it something new ? very nicely, but the manager lost control and had me and my son removed out the store , so today I have called the coorpate office and waiting on a return call, all because we did not understand the New Polices... We left and went to another KROGER store , which we didn't want to go through the same thing again i left the coupons in the car!!!!HA!HA! after we processed and cashed out we ask the question " What is the policy for using printed out coupons off line? , the cs explained it was something new and you have to put all coupons from KROGER only on your kroger pluse card , WHAT?????????????????? yes sound crazie , because i dont have time for all theat , it is easier to print , but am waiting for a couple of days and i will get to the bottom of this . I feel as thu i should be able to use the manufactoring coupons of that product even if it is not a kroger coupons , i dont buy news papers , so how am i to know what i can and cant use at the store of my choice??????????????? But this is going to be handle . it don't make sense to me, someone is / will have to break this downnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, anyways , i forgot as soon as we got in the store there was a overcalled , saying customr service you have a call-HA!HA!HA! me and my son bust out loud , saying the other store is calling to let the other stores know about me and my son , that was sooooooooooooooooooooooo funny , but that's what happened it was our minds tripping us out -funny???!!!!!!!well anyways the point is , make sure you are carefull of couponing , evernthough i have never had this problem , i am waiting for the response but if they have not done so by Wed. or Thurs., belive me i will not be waiting for them no longer- someone will be talking with by Thursday -trust ME.....Beverly L.

Well lol, now you and your son have a funny shared experience to laugh at, at least. I'm about to call Frys..oh this is awful if its true. I remember about a year ago I heard on the news that some lady was shopping in Scottsdale (upper class) not me, I'm in phoenix, and they told her she stole all her printed out coupons and that they were illegal. It made the news and it was ridiculous. People boycotted that store and that stupid manager that did that to her for months. That's just horrible and I believe it stems from them not wanting the extra work at the end of the day and having to wait for their compensation from the coupons-it looks bad on their bottom line-but too bad..it balances eventually.
It's just bad policy to act that way. I hope Kroger doesn't have this as policy.

Shop at stores that allow you to double the value of the coupon. Find out which stores in your area will do that. I always wanted to create a stockpile in my basement, when I watch extreme couponing, I am envious when the women are stockpiling in their basement. It is a cool idea and very resourceful, plus, it looks fun to put together.
Yes I know! I want to make this as a hobby of mine but I haven’t even start couponing yet. Things are a bit tough I can’t even afford the newspaper at the moment but I will try to get them this Sunday!

If you have a dollar tree or discounted store, they sell newspapers there for $1.00, that is what I do.

I've been looking at your replies and when this discussion came up i told my hubby straight away about it because how you have to live in the US doing coupons...christ we've not had that since the 1940's since the 2nd world war.
It totally shocked me because i know most of you have a game getting insurance to cover your treatment but coupons now your talking another issue :)
