My doctor prescribed Celebrex -- I was honestly surprised to see it was still on the market, I thought the took it off with Vioxx. I took Vioxx years ago with no troubles, but it didn't really do much for me. I am always hesitant to start taking anything new, but I had to taper off prednisone after about 12 years on it since a bone scan showed I am just a hair away from osteoperosis (and prednisone is the likely culprit since I am pre-menopausal), and I am naturally feeling a lot more pain without it. I was just wondering if anyone is taking or has taken Celebrex and had any issues or has anything great to say about it.
Sherri, I've been on celebrex for at least 11 years. It has helped me with some of the muscle and bone pain that I suffer from and has not caused me any stomach issues that other pain meds can cause. It is like vioxx and I wish you luck with this ----Give it a few weeks to really kick in---it takes a little time. Good luck, boo.
I took it for nine days and started to feel better. I started taking it again on Monday. I can’t wait for it to kick in. I have not had any side effects. It’s early.

Do you guys take it once a day or twice? Doc told me she was writing the prescription for twice a day, but she said if I can get by with once, that would be better.

I have been taking Celebrex twice a day for many years and I have had no trouble. When I have had to be off of it for surgeries I suffer and can barely walk. I hope that you have the same relief that I have had with it. Good Luck! Reet
I have been taking Celebrex for about a month now. Was a little rough on tummy for first week but than my body adjusted. I am not going to rave about it because it has not changed my pain level very much. What I will say is that it seems to help a little with my poly chondritis (which is a disease that attacks the cartilage and causes painful inflammation) that effects my ears the most. I have not had as many fevers as usual and am not sleeping quite as much. I guess basically what I am saying is that it is worth a try to see how it works for you. My biggest issue with it is the fact that there is no generic for it and its expensive!! With insurance and coupons I have gotten it down to $85 a month which for some people may not seem like much but for us with all the other stuff we take and the medical bills can really add up!! I have taken Celebrex as needed for pain since Vioxx was taken off the market and it has never given me any side effects. It does help with muscle and joint pain. Wish you luck and hope you get some relief.
