# Bad luck strikes again

As if lupus and interstitial lung disease aren't enough of an affliction, I recently absorbed more bad luck. A large sore broke out on my hand, one which was quiet painful. My rheumatologist, on the day of a benlysta treatment, decided to prescribe some antibiotics and an increase in prednisone to try to rid me of the sore, thinking it might be an infection. The antibiotic killed the sore, and everything seemed fine. Then, the day after the treatment, I began to have a horrible stomach ache. It worsened to the point where I felt the need to go to the emergency room. They discovered an infection in the colon, and determined the original antibiotics were the cause. Can you believe it? I was in the hospital - taking another antibiotic, of course - until Tuesday afternoon. Still recovering and can't go near anyone in the home with me for a week. "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." Hah! Hope your luck is much better.

I am so sorry that you have had this all going on with you. Antibiotics can really have some bad affects on us. I hope you are well or at least much better by Christmas.

How long have you had your Lupus diagnosis? Are you taking immunosuppressive drugs? I’m a recently diagnosed 69year old and curious about timelines of things.

I'm so sorry that all of this is happening to you! I have read so many bad things about antibiotics lately, you are not alone in having a bad reaction. Hang in there! wish I had some words of wisdom or comfort for you!
